Opening in the Fall of 2016, Learning Tree Farm Nature Preschool will educate children ages three through five for two to three days a week. The Nature Preschool building is located on the farm grounds which allows the children their own space with easy access to Learning Tree Farm’s 85 acres of field, farm and forest.

What is a Nature Preschool?

In a nature preschool, all components of a high-quality traditional program are present, but the environment and medium for discovery and learning are the outdoors. Children discover local flora and fauna during their exploration of the environment; staff builds upon that curiosity by providing literature, projects and structure that expand their understanding of these phenomena. Mathematics, science, social skills, and physical skills are seamlessly woven into this content. There is an emphasis on process art (i.e. free painting using a variety of materials, which are chosen by the child) vs. product art (i.e. making a group of something that look identical). Materials are chosen intentionally to complement the natural classroom spaces found inside and outside.

Learning Tree Farm Nature Preschool’s Philosophy:

  • We believe that concrete daily experiences in nature with ample time to explore, builds children’s ability to problem solve and self regulate.
  • Our emergent and child-centered curriculum will allow us to investigate nature and the farm using a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Harnessing children’s natural curiosity and using multiple senses, we are able to meet children’s developmental needs while creating a deep connection with nature.
  • We believe that early repeated exposure to the natural world will facilitate a growth of personal identity and an understanding of the interconnection between humans and their environments.

Hi, I’m Miranda and I’m so excited to bring Dayton Moms Blog to our awesome city! Fifteen years ago I ventured to Wright State where I earned my marketing degree. Since then, I have been happy to call this area home. I’m a proud wife to my husband Ryan, who inspires me to always be better tomorrow than I was today. With his support, I am thrilled to start this wonderful resource for Dayton moms. This will be an exciting addition to my full time career & our five energetic girls! Yep, you read that correctly. Five girls. We have an amazing blended family and we live in a world of organized chaos. Organization out of necessity and Chaos because, well, we are out numbered!! Our daughters are eight, seven, six times two ( twins. yes. Identical! ) and our baby. Brooklyn, Ella, Addison, Payton, & Charlie, respectively. I’m known for my contagious optimism and easy going nature. The little things that make me happy are Panera iced tea & their drive thru. Seeing the sheer excitement of our oldest daughters when Charlie does something cute or new, and a great piece of dark chocolate. Finding an inspiring quote that hits home always makes me smile. I’m so happy you are here checking out the newest resource for Dayton Moms. It is my mission to make it your happy-place, your go-to, your one-stop-shop, your home for all things Dayton, all things mom. :: My favorite things about being a mom :: Knowing I have the power to change the world for the better & No one will ever question my caffeine (or wine) intake...reminder, I have five girls!
