The Cheerleaders In Our Lives

0

I recently completed a HUGE work project. Probably one of the biggest of my career. It was a LOT of fun. It was also a LOT of work! I had to partner and collaborate with people all across our business. People in different functions, at different locations, and even in different countries. I worked with executive leaders (Do you have any idea how tricky it is to get seven leaders of a business into a meeting all on the same day and time? It’s HARD!). I started work early and finished up late. It became a running joke with my team AND my family that I’d see them the day after the project was completed. Until then, I’m busy!

Thankfully everything worked out, everything went smoothly and it was a great success. At the end of the day, I was SUPER proud of myself. I had done a GREAT job if I do say so myself, thank you very much!

But, what stood out to me the most, wasn’t what *I* had done. It was what so many had done for ME!

I had SO many people cheering me on and supporting me, all through the process. I, quite simply, could not have done it on my own. And, honestly, I wouldn’t want to. It would have been too much. I was part of a team that did this project, and we all had our own roles in it. But, truly, the superstars of this project were our cheerleaders!

Sometimes, I think we can get so busy, we overlook or take for granted our support system. We are so wrapped up in everything going on, we don’t even realize there are people right behind us pushing us, helping us and cheering us on.

I’d like to take a moment to shout out some of our biggest cheerleaders in life.

Our #1 fan!

My absolute biggest cheerleader is my husband. He steps in when I’m overwhelmed. He makes sure I keep myself fed when I’m so engrossed in my work I forget to eat. He makes sure the kids’ schoolwork is done. He folds the laundry. He knows when I have something major going on and is quick to offer support! He’s also great at recognizing when I need a break and reminding me to step away, take a break and go back at it refreshed and ready. Who is your #1 fan?

Family!

My kids are great with compliments and gosh I love them for it! “You’re doing great, mommy!” They have no idea what I’m doing, but they know I’m working hard and they cheer me on. My mom and my sisters are great, too! They always compliment my creativity. Who in your family is your biggest cheerleader?

Co-workers!

We aren’t all perfect and we sometimes butt heads, but there are quite a few of my peers that will always offer their support. I have a couple that are always great to offer encouraging words, like “You’ve got this!” There are a few that when I say, “I need help”  they respond, “Tell me what to do!” It’s amazing what having someone in your corner can do! Do you have a co-worker like this?

Starbucks!

Ok, yeah I know it’s not actually a person. But, hear me out! Stressed and rushed and lacking energy? Stop at Starbucks! That first sip of Iced Chai Tea Latte and ahhhhh, much better!! Maybe for you, it’s Dunkin’ Donuts or Tim Horton’s or a McDonald’s Coke or even your trusty old water bottle filled with ice-cold refreshing water. But I know you know what I’m saying. That moment when everything just stops, and you enjoy that first sip, and BAM, you’re ready to take on the world!

A HUGE thank you to all the cheerleaders in my life! I hope you all know how VERY thankful I am to all of you, and I hope I can cheer you on as well!
