Momma, I Will Capture Those Memories For You!

Have you ever said, or heard another momma say, “I was so busy living in the moment that I did not capture any pictures?” Or, “I did not take any photos today because I just wanted to be present?”

Anyone who knows me knows this does not come out of my mouth.

I have what I would classify as OCD when it comes to taking pictures. I feel a NEED to capture memories – wanting to document and remember everything. However, being on the other side of things, there are times I admit that I have felt a little less present because I felt so anxious to capture something, especially when it is a special occasion and not wanting to miss that picture-perfect moment!

Why can’t we as mommas have both? Why can’t we make the cake, take the cake, and eat it, too?!

That is why I have made this pledge to myself, whenever my children go to someone’s outing, such as a birthday party or if I am in attendance at some special occasion for someone else, I will snap photos! I have taken many photos at birthday parties. I have taken recordings of kiddos as we sing “Happy Birthday” and they blow out the candles. I have even stopped when we were out and about and asked that family trying to take a group selfie if I can take the picture for them!

You know what? I have never once had someone upset that I captured these moments for them. It was nothing for me to lend a hand so that I could capture them being fully present and making memories when it was important to them! Even with my kiddos running amuck at a party (I have four of them, y’all), I can still manage to capture some cute shots to help a momma out.

So take the pledge with me, capture some memories for a fellow momma when you are at one of their special occasions or events. That way they can have their cake and eat it, too.
