Outdoor Summer Cinema
Crickets chirping, sun setting, the slightly cooler breezes blowing gently on my sweaty skin, and the quiet hum of another busy summer day winding down to a close. Some of my favorite childhood memories are just from playing outside at dusk. As an adult, that time of day this time of year is still one of my favorites.
The one thing that would make that time of night better? Sitting around in my camp chair while the girls spread out on an old blanket, watching the sun finish its descent, munching on popcorn, and watching a movie on the big screen.
Taking our girls to a local park, munching on treats from a food truck, and staying up late to watch movies is such a fun tradition! Here is our roundup of local FREE movies under the stars you can go to with your littles!
Saturday May 28 – Movies in the Park – The Sandlot – Franklin Community Park – Bring your blanket and/or chairs! Concessions start at 8:00 PM, the movie will start at twilight
Sunday June 5 – SouthBrook Encanto Movie Night – SouthBrook Christian Church -Join SouthBrook for a night of family fun as we watch Disney’s Encanto together under the night sky! We will have Food Trucks and family-friendly activities, too!
Saturday June 11 – Movie Under the Stars– Dog -Greene County Parks & Trails – The fun starts when the sun goes down! Join Greene County Parks & Trails for a FREE family movie in the park under the stars. The park opens at 8:30pm with the movie starting around 9:15pm. Bring along a blanket or some chairs and enjoy.
Saturday June 25 –Movie Under the Stars – The Lost City– Caesar Ford Park – Bring your blanket or chairs and enjoy a free movie at the Park!
Don’t forget the bug repellant! Dusk is the mosquitoes’ favorite time of day! Also, bring water bottles and a snack, and maybe even a jacket – just in case!
