Fall has arrived, and it’s time to spend time celebrating all the events that come along with the season. Please note that due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, many events are now requiring you to pre-register ahead of time! Enjoy the fun that Fall has to offer while being safe and socially distant!

october1. Deeds Carillon Concert @ Carillon Historical Park

Check out this free, family-friendly concert! Outdoors with lots of space to be socially distant, this concert will be performed by Dr. Larry Weinstein.

2. Learning Tree Farm Autumn Family Adventure

September 26th-October 25th
10am to 4 pm

To help with current COVID-19 guidelines, this event is now a month-long series. Families can complete weekly challenges at the farm! $30 per family includes unlimited visits to the farm, weekly interactive challenges, and even a chance to win a free PRIVATE party at the farm! It’s outdoor fun and learning at its best!

3. Spooky Search @ Kettering Rec Complex

October 10, 2020
6-8:30pm

Register ahead for a night of crafts, darkness, hunting, and fun. Kids will be able to hunt for eggs filled with toys, candy, or coupons. Ending the night with a cookie bar and refreshments is sure to bring smiles and laughs. They are encouraging costumes, and an adult must accompany the child. Cost is $11 for Kettering Residents and $16 for non-residents.

4. Little Explorers @ Bellbrook/Sugarcreek Park District Headquarters

octoberDMC Pro Mom Tip: Note that while this is held two dates, the topics are the same for both! Also this event is for Bellbrook/Sugarcreek residents only.

October 9th-16th
10:30-11:30am

Children 2-5 years of age

Pre-register the Monday before to take your little ones into nature. They will be learning about letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and more! There is no cost for this event, and an adult must attend with their child. Get out of the house and enjoy all that nature can provide!

5. Homemade Apple Pie Virtual Class with Dorothy Lane Market

October 6, 2020
6-7:30pm

Grab your kiddos and bake the night away. Nothing says Fall more than the smell of apple pies baking in the oven. Via Zoom, you will learn how to make an entire pie from scratch, what apples are best for which dishes, and how to make the prefect crust. Register by 9/29 to receive the recipe, grocery, and equipment list!

6. Pumpkin Train @ Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad

octoberDMC Mom Pro Tip: Know that this train can be warm/cold depending on weather. Suggested to dress in layers and plan accordingly

October 17 and October 25, 2020
10am-4pm

Order tickets early, so you don’t miss out! The pumpkin train takes passengers on a 45-minute journey. A scarecrow host will assist you and socially-distant requirements will be in place. Balloon pumpkins, Fall sites, and a stop to get a pumpkin pie/cookie will make this railway trip extra fun for all ages.

7. Light the Night Pumpkin Hike @ Ceasar Ford Park

Oct 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st
7-11pm

Due to current guidelines, this event has a new location and will be a blacklight pumpkin hike rather than a glow. Follow trails along Caesar Ford Park and see all of the “glowing” blacklight reflective pumpkins. It’s lots of fun, without the spook!

8. Pumpkin Palooza at Hidden Valley Orchard

octoberDMC Mom Pro Tip: Try the sparkling blackberry wine (grownups only of course). You will not be disappointed!

October 10-11, 2020
10am to 3pm

Head out to Hidden Valley Orchard for Fall fun, pumpkin tram rides to the patch, and fun for all ages. The Roadway is stroller- and wheelchair-friendly (added bonus!!!). While there, you can have lunch, take walks along pathways to the waterfall, and enjoy goodies from the market and bakery. The grounds are large, and spacing out is easy to do! They encourage you to bring a blanket or chair to enjoy the orchard and live music on the grounds. They also have a kid play area, kiddie kite flying (bring your own) in the meadow, a covered bridge, and more. Have a dog that doesn’t like to stay home? The grounds are dog-friendly; just make sure they are on a leash and that you clean up after them!

9. Cowvin’s Corny Maze @ Young’s Jersey Dairy

Open September 21 to October 25, 2020
11am-6pm

3.5 acres of corn fields have been turned into a maze that will challenge all ages. They have over one mile of paths with twists, dead ends, and tricky spots! Go with friends, and see who can get out most quickly. Afterward, don’t forget to go visit the goats and grab an ice cream cone before you leave.

10. Haunted Halloween Drive Thru @ George Rogers Clark Park

October 16, 2020
7-10:30pm

Purchase tickets online, and enjoy a drive-thru tour of the park. At only $15 per card load, this event is sure to thrill. It is a family-friendly little spook ride that can allow for safe Halloween fun!

11. Ceasar’s Creek Pioneer Village Trick or Treat

octoberDMC Mom Pro Tip: Costumes are encouraged for both kids and grown ups alike!

October 24, 2020
3-6pm

Come enjoy the Pioneer Village as you go door-to-door. House parents will have treats ready for the kids, and the Bullskin Inn will have a special treat for all. There is no fee for this event that will be held outdoors where safe distancing can be ensured!

12. Fall on the Farm @ Blooms and Berries Farm Market

September 19th to November 1st
9:30am-6pm Sunday
9:30am-7pm Monday-Saturday

Enjoy family-friendly Fall activities in a rustic environment. Your admission will include access to the pumpkin patch, hayrides, a corn maze, “cow” train rides, and more. Enjoy treats at the hot dog stand, or stop in at the Beer Garden for a time out! They offer a variety of Fall treats to purchase for continued Fall enjoyment at home!
