Staying In

Not to worry – here’s a fun idea to celebrate with your children no matter what their ages.

Create activity countdown bags.

Step One: Decide how many activities you’d like to do with your children and what times you’d like to do them. I normally start around 4:00 p.m with the final activity ending at least 15 minutes before the ball drops at midnight. (That activity is usually to create noisemakers or something they can use to celebrate.) That’s about 5 – 8 total activities. You can space things out for every hour or every other. It’s totally up to you.

Step two: Cut up slips of paper and write activities on them. These can range from anything like; put on fancy clothes, watch a movie, do a craft, or our personal favorite – glow stick dance party. This is where you can get creative. The point is to create activities to keep your little ones occupied until midnight.

Step three: We have used balloons, and brown paper bags, you can use whatever you would like. Place those slips of paper into them. You’ll want to provide all you’ll need for the activities, if anything, either in a box close by or in the actual paper bags. It saves so much time!

Step four: Label the bags, or balloons, with the times they are to be opened. Or popped. And that’s it! We’ve done this for a few years now and the kids always have so much fun.

Let us know how you plan to celebrate New Year’s Eve! And if you don’t find what you are looking for in this round-up – there are plenty of fun opportunities to check out in Cincinnati as well!
