Do you already have fun plans ready for your little leprechauns in March? If you need more ideas, here are our top twelve picks for family-friendly events around the Greater Dayton area. Plus, there are two exciting shows happening this month from our friends at Dayton LIVE!

1. SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK

Dayton LIVE welcomes two great, family-friendly shows to Victoria Theatre this month! March 4th-6th, a pop culture phenomenon returns to the musical stage! Academic subjects will never seem boring again when presented through megahits like “Conjunction Junction,” “Just a Bill,” “Interplanet Janet” or “Three is a Magic Number.” SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK explodes onto the stage with songs you loved updated for a whole new generation!

2. The Peking Acrobats {CANCELED}

Then on March 16th The Peking Acrobats will delight crowds of all ages with their daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs, trick-cycling, precision tumbling, juggling, somersaulting, and gymnastics! THE PEKING ACROBATS are often accompanied by live musicians who skillfully play traditional Chinese instruments; the time-honored Chinese music coalesces with high-tech special effects and awe-inspiring acrobatic feats, creating an exuberant entertainment event with the festive pageantry of a Chinese Carnival.

3. Pamper Yourself Pajama Party 

Put on the PJ’s, grab the slippers and join Greene County Parks and Trails for an evening of pampering. Tweens, ages 10-13, will spend the evening creating their own custom beauty products from Kool-Aid lip balm to sugar scrubs and more.

Pajama parties aren’t complete without some music, laughter, food and drinks so pizza and pop will be provided.

Parents are not required to stay for this program.

4. Indoor Snowball Fight

Celebrate the end of winter with a safe, indoor snowball fight with Dayton Metro Libraries! Participants will work together to build cardboard forts and shields and use scrap paper as their snowballs. Safety will be the number one priority! Masks are required during the program.  For ages 5 and up.

5. TROLLS LIVE

Get ready for another hair-raising adventure when Poppy, Branch and all their Trolls friends come to life on stage in Trolls LIVE!  Jam-packed with epic music, glitter, humor and happiness.

6. St. Pat’s Fest Saturday Irish Festival

Kick off St. Patrick’s Week with a day of Irish fun for everyone! Dayton’s top Irish dance academies, popular Irish bands, and other live acts will join the event throughout the day as you enjoy carnival games, delicious food, and games of chance with your family!

Enjoy a traditional Irish dinner of Corned Beef, Irish Stew, and Soda Bread or your favorite fried snacks!

Leprechaun Land Kiddie Area (ages 1-12) from noon – 6 p.m.

Live Bands, Fast 50 Card Split, and Food/Drinks in Heated Tent

7. Kids Night Out 

Bring your kids to the Y so they can have fun in a safe, supervised environment. Special activities like crafts and games will be planned to keep the entertainment going all evening long.

8. Dayton Hoopla Family Festival

The Oregon District Business Association and the Big Hoopla are proud to invite you and your family to the Oregon District for a FREE Family Festival on March 13, 2022. Share the excitement as they tip-off the coming basketball tournament season! Bring the entire family to enjoy activities and special events. It’s a celebration of basketball, Dayton, and the greatest fans in college hoops.

9. Science Saturday – Making Waves

Science Saturday is a live, free show that is a revitalization of the science show that Charles Kettering and his “Barn Gang” produced in the early 20th Century on the same stage at the Engineers Club of Dayton. Join hosts Mr. Frank and Fultzie as they bring science to life with audience participation.

10. Chipmunk Adventures for Preschool Children: Hurry Up, Spring! (Everyone)

Don’t hibernate — join Aullwoord Audobon in a beautiful winter wilderness filled with a sense of wonder, where plenty of hands-on and cognitive learning experiences await children. Art work, stories, songs, and hikes add excitement to every session!

Chipmunk Adventures are classes for preschool children, ages 2-5 years old, accompanied by an adult. Cost is $25 for members; $30 for non-members. This class will be conducted both outside and inside the Charity A. Krueger Farm Discovery Center, 9101 Frederick Pike, so please dress for the weather conditions. 11. BUGS!! – A DPAA Family Concert

March 20, 3pm

The Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Dayton Ballet II present BUGS!! Featuring music and dance for creeping, crawling, and adorable insects of all sorts, this family concert will showcase the student musicians and dancers of the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance. Founded in 1937, the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra brings together the greater Dayton area’s most gifted young orchestral musicians, providing the opportunity to study and perform a broad range of orchestral repertoire. The Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is conducted by Dr. Patrick Reynolds.

12. Pop-Up Nature Fun: An Outdoor Family Storytime

Monday, March 7, 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Families are invited to join Centerville-Washington Park Districut outside to listen to a story brought to you by the Washington-Centerville Public Library and to participate in nature-themed activities following the story. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on. All ages.
