Jeans – I hate you!

0

JeansI am not a small person – nor am I a shape that seems comparable to a fruit (not that I am sure that would make me feel any better).

What I am is a women who needs jeans – what I want to be is a women who can walk into ANY store, pick up a pair of jeans in whatever size I am, and just take them home – WITHOUT TRYING THEM ON!!! (I know right – ok breathe….)

I can’t even begin to tell you how unreal it is to watch men walk into 5 different stores, pick up 5 different pair of jeans and EVERY SINGLE ONE FITS. Seriously – I hate you. And by I – I am sure I can just say we as woman-kind hate you. Jeans shopping is a FULL day adventure for most.

>>> Starting with caffeine, a pep talk, a mighty breakfast and the knowledge of where every Starbucks is in relation to where I’ll be for refueling through-out the day <<<

We as women must try on a varying array of sizes, shapes, fits, cuts, color, distressing, bling-ness (you know, stuff on the butt) and lengths. And each of us have our own issues – there are those at the strange heights where the short is too short but the regular is too long OR the regular is too short and the tall is too long – I totally could keep going! Or they fit in my thighs but I have crack for DAYS ; or my favorite is when they are perfect….except they don’t button…I might be slightly crying right now.

And NEVER after having children is going back into jeans fun, at least not from my experience. Do you remember that feeling, the feeling that overcomes you post pregnancy when your “fat” jeans either don’t fit or are the norm?  Or the feeling when you heard that “other” mom was back in her jeans in just a couple weeks? Yet, you were living in maternity jeans post-baby for 3 months – lucky her! I lived in maternity clothes from month 2 and half of being pregnant until 3 months post-partum with both kids and I LOVED every minute of it.

So just to make a point I am going to do something no woman really enjoys – but I am sharing my size. I am a size 14 now, same as in high school – went up to a 22 post baby – worked my tail off after number 2 and here I am chilling at a 14. However – bought a size 10 the other weekend at a great store and then promptly went to another store shortly later and the 14’s I am certain laughed at me when I tried to squeeze into them. Really?! Really?!

I could have screamed, or cried, or just melted – instead….a hot tea latte from Starbucks and a call to my mommy and I was all better….ish.

So here it is – make your mission plan before you try on jeans – worry about size enough to pull a few into the dressing room and then forget about it – find the ones that make your legs look long, your butt look good and enable you to breathe! And remember – you are BEAUTIFUL!

To your son(s) you are the most beautiful women in the world and to your daughter(s) there isn’t a princess that can compete with you – and when you find that one pair that fits perfect – buy as many as you can !

We are open to hearing your jean shopping tips, blunders, and anything in between!

Hello world! I am a mother of 2 wonderful (usually) little children (occasionally hooligans)! Caylee is 5 and Ben is 3! They are the lights of my life. I work full time as a pharmacist within a private practice group of doctors. I love to coach Caylee in soccer, and LOVE to play with both of my kids; hikes and the playground when it's nice - puzzles, coloring, and books when its not! I am married to Kyle, 8 years this year - met in college and never left! Grew up in Cincinnati, however have lived in Dayton for 12 years now. I love this town for raising my children and all the fun we have as a family. The thing I love most about motherhood is watching my children discover this awesome world we live in!
