Looking for ways to beat those winter blues now that the holidays are over? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered with loads of fun things to do around Dayton this month!
1. Ice Skating @ Riverscape in Downtown Dayton
***DMB Tip*** Bundle up because this event is outdoors!
- Open Daily through March 1st
- Times vary, please check website.
- Admission is $6 per person and skate rentals are $2 per person. Children 3 and under are free with a paying adult.
The rink has a little something for everyone: beginners’ lessons, open skating, broomball and curling, hot chocolate, snacks, and music.
2. Christmas Tree Throw Off @ Vandalia Recreation Center
- January 4th @ 12pm-3pm
- Free Event
All are welcome to participate in throwing a Christmas tree as far as you can all for the sake of raising money for the Vandalia Food Pantry! 2 non-perishable food items/cans or $2 will get you 3 throws. VRC will provide trees.
3. Glimpse Behind the Scenes Program @ National Museum of the U.S. Airforce
***DMB Tip*** This program is offered the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month.
- January 3rd & 17th @ 1pm-3pm
- Free Admission
This program gives visitors a chance to talk to program volunteers about various elements of the restoration process going on at the museum. It is located in the Space STEM Learning Node located in Building 4.
4. Family Time Level 1 Cooking Class @ The Little City Cooking School
***DMB Tip*** Spots are limited, so make a reservation asap!
- January 12th @ 2:30pm
- Level 1 Cooking is for ages 11 and under with a participating adult to accompany the child.
- 1 Ticket includes a seat for child AND their adult.
- $70 per adult/child team
Each class has 1 Chef and 1 Assistant Chef to coach you through all your recipes. You will make enough food to feed the two of you.
5. A Dragon’s Heart Part 1: The Colony @ Towne Hall Theatre in Centerville

6. 151st Birthday Celebration @ Young’s Dairy
- January 17th-20th @ 7am-10pm
- Enjoy special pricing on various food items & putt-putt.
This local farm was founded in 1869 – the year the red barn was built – 151 years ago! Drive out to Yellow Springs to help celebrate this milestone birthday! Enjoy special sales on food and fun all over the farm.
7. January Winter Restaurant Week
***DMB Tip*** This event is so much fun and can family-friendly or even part of Date Night! Just be sure to make reservations in advance, popular eateries fill up fast during this special week.

The Miami Valley Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Week is a chance for dozens of local restaurants to show off new dishes and offer you a chance to see what they can do. Now with over 40 of the biggest-name local restaurants participating, you’ve got an excuse to try a lot of places around town you may never have sampled before. Every restaurant approaches the week differently, but overall, you’ll be able to pick up a three-course meal for $20.19, $25.19, or $30.19 at many of the spots in town. 8. Dinosaur World Live @ Victoria Theater

All ages will enjoy this “roarsome” show featuring life-like dinosaurs and intrepid explorers!
9. Crafting on the Farm @ Possum Creek Metropark
***DMB Tip*** Registration is required.
- January 25th @ 10am-12pm
- $10/participant
Create a woven masterpiece to hang on your wall using items found in nature and on the farm. You’ll be provided wood to make your weaving frame and dried grasses and wool to create a work of art.
10. The Princess Ball at The Estate
***DMB Tip*** Get your tickets now before they sell out!
- January 25th @ 1pm-2:30pm or 4:30pm-6:00pm
- General Admission: $40 (one child & one adult)
- VIP Princess Package: $90 (arrive an hour early for a child makeover with the princesses)
Enjoy a magical afternoon full of dancing, royal snacks, singing, crafts, & photos with your favorite princesses. One special guest will include a fiery headed princess and her black shire horse!
11. Dayton Area Free College Planning Event @ Washington Township Enrichment Center

This workshop will offer parents more information about the college application process for their students, what the financial aid 2 year look back means, and how to plan ahead.
12. Lebanon Antique Show @ Warren County Fairgrounds

- $6 online, $8 at the door – one ticket is good for both days!
There will be a large selection of 18th-20th century furnishings as well as decorative arts, textiles, china, jewelry, art, and more! Enjoy delicious food on-site and free parking too!
