Even though it’s the shortest month of the year, February can often feel like it takes forever! Don’t worry, if you find yourself needing to get out of the house – we’ve got you covered with our top 12 picks of fun things to do around Dayton this month!



1.  Read with the Animals @ Aullwood Farm

***Mom Tip*** Plan to spend time exploring the grounds

Enjoy the animals of the farm and BYO books to the barn. The animals are great listeners and love to be read to.

2.  Yoga with Cats @ Gem City Catfe

***Mom Tip*** Bring money for some sweets or drinks at the cafe

A light, beginner class in the art gallery upstairs with local Yogi Matt Turner and rescue cats. Bring your mat and arrive 15 minutes early to sign the waiver.  

3.  The Great Valentine Hunt @ Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District

A Chief Naturalist will lead a trail search for hidden valentines along with natural sights along the way. Register one person per group and list names/ages in notes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather and sturdy boots.

4.  Storytime at Culver’s @ Troy-Miami County Library

***Mom Tip*** this is a recurring event every 4 weeks. Look for future dates if your family enjoys or isn’t able to attend this time.

5.  ScienceFEST @ Bishop Leibold

***Mom Tip*** Be sure to invite your friends and family so they can see first hand why Bishop Leibold was one of 54 schools in Ohio to receive the Governor’s Award for Excellence in STEM Education last year!

Mark your Calendars for the annual Bishop Leibold School Science FEST (Families Exploring Science Together) to be held on Thursday, February 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the St. Henry PAC. This fun and engaging event is open to the public, and will have hands-on science activities for kids three and up! The Bishop Leibold 7th and 8th-grade students will be on hand to demonstrate and discuss their science fair projects. Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase.


6.  Storytime Stroll @ Centerville Washington Parks

  • February 14, 2020; 10:30-11:30am

After a story from Washington-Centerville Public Library, enjoy a sensory stroll looking for sights, sounds, smells and textures exploring the story’s theme. Dress for the weather.

7.  Furry Film Night @ SICSA

***Mom Tip*** Check their wishlist and shop together for a donation to bring as a bonus

Tour SICSA’s new facility, meeting their adoptable animals. Then enjoy cheese pizza, popcorn, and juice with a G-rated movie. PJs welcome; dress for comfort. Pillows and blankets from home with any additional desired snacks can help make this a great time.

8.  Maple Syrup Camp Day @ Clark County Park District 

  • February 15, 2020; 10am-4pm

  • Free, donations accepted

Join in harvesting maple tree sap. Then, aid in cooking the sap down and tasting samples. Dress for the weather.

9.  Tech Fest @ Sinclair

10.  Winter Tree I.D. and Storybook Trail @ Miami County Park District

Part of the Naturalist Adventure Series with Storybook Trail. A naturalist is on hand for activities learning how to identify trees in winter. Meet at the park entrance. 

11.  Harriet Tubman: Straight Up Outta the Underground @ Dayton Metro Library

A one-woman storytelling experience by the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati. You play a part in retelling the journey of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.
