Spring is officially here (yay!) and we don’t know about you, but that makes us crazy excited to get out of the house – maybe even wearing flip-flops… a girl can dream! We are especially excited to check out Vintage Market Days at the end of the month. 1. Sloth Encounter @Boonshoft Museum of Discovery

***DMB Tip*** Line up early, because seating in the planetarium is limited, and first come, first serve!

  • Free with admission; admission rates range from free for kids under 3, to 14.50 for adults. 

Meet Patience the sloth and learn about her habitat! Guests will get to learn about sloths and then see a real life sloth up close (although, no touching!) at the end of the presentation. Missed this event? Don’t worry, she’ll be back at Boonshoft later this year.

2. Lunch and Hunt with Mr. Bunny @Miamisburg Parks and Rec

  • $5 per person

Registration is required, and there are two sessions to choose from. Your littlest ones will enjoy a pizza lunch, pictures, crafts, and an egg hunt with Mr. Bunny!

3. Homeschool Day @Carillon Park

  • April 9, 2019 
  • 9:30 AM – 5 PM
  • Families – all ages
  • $5 kids, $8 adults

Spend the day bringing history to life with hands-on activities (like printing, cooking, and a school lesson), costumed interpreters, and riding the carousel! 

4. Dayton Dragons Opening Day @Fifth Third Field

***DMB Tip*** This is just the first official game of the season!  Snag tickets for any time this summer, and check out the Wendy’s Friends and Family nights where your ticket also scores you a meal at Wendy’s and a Dragon’s hat!

Minor League baseball is the best because all the seats give you a great view, and the tickets are affordable!  Springtime baseball games are especially enjoyable since it’s not too hot! 

5. Kite Tales @The National Museum of the US Air Force

Get excited for warm weather with hands-on demonstrations, including making and flying your own kite!  

6. Adopt-A-Park @Dayton Metro Parks (locations vary)

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than by spending the day helping keep our beautiful parks in excellent condition?  Sign up as an individual, family, or group and be assigned a task and location!  

7. Food Truck Rally @The Yellow Cab

  • April 19, 2019 
  • 5-10 pm
  • Families – all ages
  • Free, food available for sale

Enjoy street food, live music, craft beers and cocktails, and just enjoying the outdoors!  The Yellow Cab hosts food truck rallies all spring and summer long on the third Friday of the month. 

8. Vintage Market Days @Greene County Fairgrounds

  • April 26-28, 2019 
  • 10 AM – 5PM Friday and Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM Sunday
  • Families – all ages
  • $5 general admission, $10 early shopping on Friday, kids 12 and under are free

Regretting cleaning out all of your great stuff Marie Kondo style? Fill your home with beautiful vintage and vintage-inspired items at this unique market! 

9. Touch-A-Truck @City Barbecue

***DMB Tip*** Show up early for free corn, and put your kids in a cute outfit because there are tons of photo ops!  Save space to go next door for some ice cream, too!

You can find Touch-A-Truck events all over the city by searching on Facebook, but we love this one for a few reasons:  it’s a great excuse to eat delicious food and feel good about it at City Barbecue (25% of proceeds will benefit Relay for Life), the first 100 guests get free corn on the cob, and someone will win free barbecue for a year! Last year, kids got to see a fire truck, a police car, walk through an ambulance and climb on tons of different tractor type vehicles! 

10. Gem City Comic Con @The Dayton Convention Center

***DMB Tip*** While all ages are welcome, not all events are appropriate for little ones.

Geek out at this family-friendly event where comic collecting is a social sport!  There will be vendors tables, gaming, artists, and more! 

11. The Magic Schoolbus @Victoria Theater Association

  • April 28th
  • 2 PM – 3PM
  • Ages 5 and up, sensory-friendly
  • $16/person

Ms. Frizzle and her class are LIVE and ready to teach you about the solar system in this special, sensory-friendly production! 

12. Play Thyme @Once Upon a Thyme Bookshop

  • Saturdays
  • 10:30 AM – 11:30 PM
  • Families 
  • $5/family

Get your kids comfortable with all things food at this fun play “thyme”! Families will spend time with books, crafts, and making a snack!  Registration is required.
